American Military Targeted a 'Large Facility' in Venezuela, President Trump Claimed Without Offering Details.

Former President Donald Trump has stated that US forces hit a "large facility" in the South American country recently. However, the former president offered no details on the exact purpose or site of the target, and officials have issued no additional clarification from his administration.

Vague Remarks Made In a Radio Interview

"We just eliminated – I don't know if you heard – they have a large facility, where the vessels originate. Recently, we destroyed it. So we targeted them very hard," Trump reportedly told GOP supporter and businessman John Catsimatidis in a recent interview.

Possible Implications of a Confirmed Attack

Should a US military action is confirmed, it would mark the initial attack on Venezuelan soil since the US Department of Defense began a expansion of American military presence in the Caribbean region to halt drug traffickers that the former administration alleges operate under the direction of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.

This initial mission of the force deployment has transformed into a quarantine aimed at hindering the nation's crude oil shipments.

Social Media Footage and Official Claims

Trump has for weeks warned that American military units are prepared to widen the operations by attacking targets inside Venezuela, a tactic that would theoretically require legislative authorization.

Video footage posted online on 24 December purportedly showed an explosion reportedly from an industrial zone in Zulia state. Yet, the video or the site in question has not been confirmed by third parties.

An official from Trump's team allegedly informed a news network that the president was referring to a drug facility in his remarks.

Reaction and Ongoing Military Posture

The Maduro government has issued no statement on the event the former president described. Furthermore, there have been no verified accounts from Venezuela about it.

The deployment of US military in the area – a stance certain officials have called a sea blockade – constitutes the most expansive naval operation of the Trump era.

Administration officials have refrained from describing the operation as a full blockade, but have confirmed that approximately 15,000 personnel are positioned across the Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico, including a carrier strike group, advanced fighter jets, and Coast Guard cutters to enforce current economic sanctions.
