Cyclone Melissa is forecast to escalate to a infrequent Category 5 cyclone as it veers in the direction of the Caribbean island, bringing life-threatening flash flooding and landslides.

The hurricane, which recorded winds of up to 120 mph as of 6:00 AM GMT, is now shifting northwest in the Caribbean region and is anticipated to make landfall by early next week, as reported by hurricane specialists.

Melissa is forecast to move across Cuba by the middle of the week before moving through the Greater Antilles and entering the Atlantic.
